PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Cabrillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Vos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vos has chosen Three Little Birds as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Cabrillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Vos!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vos throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cabrillo moves away from the strike by Vos.
Vos misses with an uppercut.
Cabrillo throws a good cross that connects.
Vos tests Cabrillo's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Cabrillo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Vos looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Vos shoots in but no luck this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cabrillo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Vos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cabrillo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cabrillo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cabrillo!

Vos is looking to regain half guard here but Cabrillo keeps moving and retains side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Juan Cabrillo will probably get the nod.

Vos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vos throws out a powerful jab.
Cabrillo swings for the body but Vos moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Juan Cabrillo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cabrillo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
