Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phil Brooks has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jacques Stone's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brooks paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stone really is a fat lump.

Brooks gets the takedown into side control.

Brooks trying to control the position but Stone is working away.

Stone is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Brooks has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Brooks throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stone tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Brooks is in Stone's guard.

Brooks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stone, pushing him back against the cage.
Stone jumps guard but Brooks stands there with Stone around his waist. Stone gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Brooks scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Stone is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Brooks scores with a couple of nice shots.
Brooks landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Stone half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Let's hope that Brooks has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
BOOM! Brooks connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Brooks gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Brooks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stone.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stone lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Brooks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Brooks has his foot on Stone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stone works his way back into a safe position though.

Brooks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stone stands up over Brooks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brooks can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stone postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Well Brooks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
