PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everette Frye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gacy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Everette Frye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Gacy!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gacy takes the fight into the clinch.
Frye blocks an uppercut.
Frye pressing his opponent against the cage.
Frye slowing the pace effectively.
Gacy tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Gacy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gacy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gacy is standing up over Frye. Frye looks to escape but Gacy dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gacy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Frye knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Frye gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Gacy is keen to just control but Frye is a slippery customer.

Frye is pressing down on Gacy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gacy has eaten all the pies!
Frye tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gacy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gacy throws a low kick but it's checked well by Frye.
No joy there for Frye, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Frye tries to sprawl but Gacy drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gacy wants to control but Frye is keeping him busy.

Gacy prevents Frye from improving his position.

Frye is refusing to be controlled, as Gacy sits in half guard.

Gacy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Frye defends it well.
Frye is controlling Gacy's trapped leg to prevent Gacy from advancing to side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Gacy dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Gacy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Frye is trying to defend but Gacy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gacy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Frye is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gacy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gacy's back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gacy is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Frye gets his way!

Frye has the hooks in. Gacy is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Frye punishes Gacy with strikes from the back mount.
Gacy is trying to remain composed but Frye is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Frye gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Frye is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Frye working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Frye slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Gacy grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Gacy is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Frye is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Frye is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gacy can do to turn this around?
Frye lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Frye.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Frye is working the ground and pound. Can Gacy escape?
Frye is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Frye gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Frye gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Frye apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Frye shoots in looking for a takedown but Gacy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Frye's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Everette Frye is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Frye misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Despite the aggression on Gacy's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Gacy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gacy lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Everette Frye dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Frye throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gacy was covering up waiting for the punch and Frye finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gacy wants to stand up but Frye is controlling him.
Frye is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Frye loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Frye will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gacy wants to get back to his feet but Frye is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Gacy controls Frye momentarily but Frye frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Frye is defended easily by Gacy.

Gacy gets caught napping as Frye dives in and scores a takedown. Gacy manages to retain guard.

Frye throws a big right hand that misses.

Gacy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gacy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Frye slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Frye postures up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Frye is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Gacy has momentary wrist control but Frye slips an elbow through the middle.
Frye loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Frye looking to sit in guard and control but Gacy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gacy wants to control from the top but Frye keeps moving.

Gacy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frye swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Frye trying to keep a closed guard but Gacy is proving a slippery customer.
Gacy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Frye wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Frye is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gacy wants to control from the top but Frye keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gacy drives through and clinches with Frye against the cage.
Frye stalls.

Gacy decides to pull guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Everette Frye.
I think Frye has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
