Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nathanial Francis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jax Teller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jax Teller has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nathanial Francis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jax Teller!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teller lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Teller lands with an overhand left.
Teller throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Francis counters by moving into the clinch.

Francis pulls guard effortlessly.
Teller wanted to stand there but Francis had control of the position.
Francis pulls Teller in close to his closed guard and prevents Teller from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Francis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Teller decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Francis, up you get!
Teller throws a head kick but Francis moves out of range.
Teller throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Francis takes one to the chin there.
Francis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Teller sprawls well. Teller wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Francis gets slowly back to his feet.
Francis sets himself, and Teller steps forward looking for the clinch! Francis avoids it this time.
Jax Teller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Teller comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Francis takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Teller falls off balance throwing a combination
and Francis counters with a slapping leg kick.
Francis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Francis blocks a head kick by Teller.
Teller throws a series of punches but Francis moves out of range.
It looked like Francis was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Teller throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sloppy strikes from Teller. Those never looked like landing.
Francis moves out of range of the strikes.
Teller looks winded!
Teller closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Teller throws an overhand right that lands on Francis's shoulder, as Francis tries to avoid the shot.
Francis avoids a punch combination nicely.

Francis drops back looking for a leg! Teller is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Teller manages to kick Francis off! Francis jumps back into Teller's guard.
Francis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jax Teller dominated that round.
That's time! Francis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Teller fails to land with a series of punches.
Teller will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Teller swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Francis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Francis.

Francis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Francis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Francis will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Francis is pulling down on Teller's head. It's preventing any offense from Teller, at least for the moment.
Teller wants to stand but Francis is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Francis continues to stall.

Francis kicks Teller off and gets to his feet.
Teller throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Francis seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Teller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Teller throws out a loose jab but Francis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Francis throws a counter high kick but Teller was just alert enough to avoid it.
Teller lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Teller is breathing heavily.

Teller thows a leg kick but Francis checks it

and Francis counters with a head kick that drops Teller to the mat! Teller scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Teller is rocked!
Francis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Despite the aggression on Teller's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Teller is still on wobbly legs! Can Francis finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Teller misses with a right hand

and Francis moves into the clinch.
Teller seems to have recovered his senses.
Francis taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Francis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice jab there from Teller.
Teller looks to score with a jab to the body but Francis is just out of range.
Teller misses with a two punch combination.
Teller just misses with a punch to the body.
Teller misses with a lunging right hand

and Francis counters by moving into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Francis jumps guard and drags Teller to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Francis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Francis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Teller's guard.

Francis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Francis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Francis gets a takedown into half guard.
Teller pushes Francis off but Francis dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Francis happy to just control the position for now.
Nathanial Francis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Teller tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Teller takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Francis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Teller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Francis has control of Teller's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Teller regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Francis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Francis looking to isolate an arm here. Teller doesn't see it coming and as Francis extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Francis!
