The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza shoots in but Mahoney avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mahoney swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Mahoney seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Souza shoots for a double leg takedown but Mahoney sprawls well. He's pushed Souza's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mahoney half committed to a counter leg kick.
Souza throws a lazy right hand but Mahoney sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mahoney appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Souza throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Mahoney counter with a right hand.
Mahoney lands a lovely overhand right.
Souza tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mahoney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Souza somewhat.
Dick Mahoney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronaldo Souza.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Mahoney counters with a right hand to the body.
Souza closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mahoney circles away.
Souza shoots in for a double leg but Mahoney sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Souza throws a head kick that misses.

and Mahoney counters with a nice right hand that sends Souza toppling to the canvas! Souza scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Mahoney finish him?!

It looks like Ronaldo Souza has been cut.
Souza leaves his chin hanging out and Mahoney seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Souza crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
