Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chico Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Iker Dedal!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dedal looks to land a combination but Sanchez avoids it well.

Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dedal did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control.
Still in half guard, Sanchez seems content to control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dedal shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl out of it but Dedal keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanchez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sanchez needs to keep his hands up - Dedal had a free shot at his head there.
Sanchez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dedal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sanchez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sanchez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sanchez turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Sanchez will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dedal up against the cage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dedal fails to land with a series of punches.
Sanchez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dedal's waist but Dedal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanchez off to one side.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Sanchez here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

and Sanchez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dedal tries to bum rush Sanchez with a series of wild strikes but Sanchez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sanchez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dedal can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sanchez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Dedal is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Sanchez is working for a guillotine from mount but Dedal frees his head quite easily.
Dedal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Dedal drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sanchez pulls his leg out and moves away.
