The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson wants to clinch but Bates slips to the side
and Bates counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Johnson darts in trying to clinch
letting Bates counter with a right hand.
Johnson misses with a kick to the body.
Bates avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bates connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Bates lands with a straight right. Johnson didn't see that one coming.
Johnson looks to land a combination but Bates avoids it well.
Bates lands a lovely overhand right.
Bates stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Johnson is rocked!
Bates swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson .

Johnson is still on wobbly legs! Can Bates finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bates moves out of range of the body kick from Johnson .
Johnson seems to have recovered his senses.
Bates connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Johnson .
A combination from Johnson does no damage.
Decent striking displayed by Bates there.
Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Johnson moves to clinch but Bates breaks away
and Bates counters with a series of strikes. Johnson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Johnson tries to clinch but Bates moves out of range.
Johnson throws a sloppy head kick
and Bates counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bates paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Bates feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Johnson s jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bates drops Johnson with a big left hand! Johnson is injured, injured bad! Bates jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
