The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCray throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mathieu's head.
McCray keeps Mathieu at a distance using the push kick.
McCray throws a right and a left that both miss.
A combination from McCray does no damage.
McCray could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McCray misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mathieu feints the counter takedown.
McCray fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mathieu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

McCray throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mathieu.
Mathieu is clearly trying to counter these attacks from McCray with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mathieu in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mathieu is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, McCray is hurt! He's hurt bad - Mathieu fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save McCray from any more punishment! Congratulations to Mathieu! Great finish!
