Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Valentin Hadjiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis Rampage!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rampage slaps away a takedown attempt from Hadjiev, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hadjiev seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Hadjiev shoots in and gets a takedown into Rampage's guard.
Hadjiev throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hadjiev throws an elbow that misses. Rampage uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hadjiev's guard. Nice move by Rampage!

Hadjiev wants to stand and escape but Rampage is having none of it.
Rampage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hadjiev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hadjiev has his feet on Rampage's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Rampage drives through and clinches with Hadjiev against the cage.

Hadjiev has clasped his hands together around Rampage's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Rampage parries the strikes from Hadjiev easily there. Hadjiev is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rampage to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rampage can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hadjiev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rampage has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hadjiev tries for a kimura but Rampage is defending well.
Rampage is trying to control Hadjiev's posture but Hadjiev avoids it.
Hadjiev connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Rampage some visible discomfort.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rampage can't do much from the bottom here.
Hadjiev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Check out the look on Hadjiev's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rampage tries to buck Hadjiev off but Hadjiev is having none of it.

Hadjiev is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Rampage looks calm but he's in trouble here. Hadjiev gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Rampage is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hadjiev lets go of the hold and Rampage can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Valentin Hadjiev!
A very excited looking Valentin Hadjiev made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
