Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pyry Kontio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter comes to the cage accompanied by Jazz Cartier - New Religion. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter slips a straight right by Kontio.

Kontio bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Carter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kontio wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ground and pound from Kontio seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Carter tries to improve position but can't.
Kontio misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kontio lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Carter is trying to control Kontio's posture but Kontio avoids it.

Kontio tries to score with some ground and pound. Carter controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Kontio is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carter has escaped the position, nice work there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kontio tries to lock up and control but Carter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carter scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Carter cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Kontio takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kontio is still in real trouble! Can Carter finish him?

Carter looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
A big strike lands for Carter! That's really hurt Kontio and he's turned his back - Carter keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Carter jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
