Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mick Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Dodds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Dodds has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mick Johnson !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Dodds!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dodds dives in and scores a takedown into Johnson 's guard.
Dodds prevents Johnson from getting back to his feet.

Johnson pushes Dodds off and scrambles back to his feet.

Dodds decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Johnson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Dodds keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dodds tries to score a body lock takedown but Johnson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Johnson is looking to break free of the clinch but Dodds has double underhooks.

Dodds gets control of Johnson 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dodds will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Dodds really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Johnson wants to control but Dodds is keeping him busy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dodds can do anything to dispel that myth.

Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

It looks like Dodds might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Let's hope that Dodds has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Dodds keeps it at a distance.

Dodds closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Mick Johnson will probably get the nod.

Dodds has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Johnson uses from the top position.

James Dodds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Dodds is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dodds knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dodds is not content to let Johnson control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dodds stops Johnson from getting back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mick Johnson .
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
