Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laponov misses with a head kick.
Laponov has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Laponov throws a leg kick
and Dodson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Laponov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dodson counters with a straight right hand.
Dodson keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Laponov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Laponov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dodson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dodson lands a jab.
Laponov finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Dodson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Laponov tries a low kick but Dodson avoids it.
Laponov fails to land the takedown.
John Dodson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Laponov.
Dodson scores with a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dodson scores with a hook to the body. Laponov takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Laponov throws a looping overhand right but Dodson ducks down to avoid it.
Laponov misses with a takedown attempt
and Dodson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Laponov is rocked!
Laponov throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Dodson rattles Laponov with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Laponov tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Dodson dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Laponov stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). John Dodson !
John Dodson bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
