The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayor checks a leg kick nicely.
Cortez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mayor.
Mayor tries to bum rush Cortez with a series of wild strikes but Cortez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mayor throws a body kick that misses
and Cortez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mayor smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

It looks like Rafael Cortez has been cut.
Mayor misses with a few strikes there.
Mayor takes a swing at Cortez's ribcage but misses.
Mayor blocks a head kick by Cortez.
Mayor appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Cortez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mayor looks to score with a jab to the body but Cortez is just out of range.
Cortez misses with a looping left.

Cortez forces Mayor back against the cage and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cortez blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cortez.

Mayor manages to break the clinch.

Mayor sends Cortez crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mayor is motioning to the referee to let Cortez up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Look low, kick high! Mayor uses the oldest trick in the book to send Cortez tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Mayor is absolutely delighted - when Cortez wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
