Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pavlo Boyko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Pavlo Boyko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Boyko counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Smith!
Smith is looking for a sweep.
Boyko throws an elbow but Smith slips to the side and avoids it well.
Smith trying to remain calm as Boyko controls from the top position.
Boyko lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Smith tries to buck Boyko off but Boyko is having none of it.
Boyko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith is working hard here to advance position.
Boyko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Boyko in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Smith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Smith looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boyko is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith thows a huge punch but Boyko dodges it nicely.
Smith is nestled in close to Boyko, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Smith is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Boyko sees it coming and defends easily.
Boyko wants to control but Smith is keeping busy.
Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Smith is thwarting Boyko's attempts to control the position.
Smith is nestled in close to Boyko, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Boyko is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Boyko looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith wants to control but Boyko is keeping him busy.
Smith slips a nice elbow through Boyko's hands, connecting with Boyko's forehead.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Boyko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is thwarting Boyko's attempts to control the position.
Smith is trying to control the action in half guard but Boyko is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Smith wants to free his trapped foot but Boyko is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Smith passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Boyko!
Smith lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Smith looking to control but Boyko is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Smith avoids the attempt from Boyko to control.
Smith tries to control but Boyko wriggling away.
Smith lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Boyko hang on?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boyko is in all sorts of trouble here.
Smith tries to control but Boyko wriggling away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boyko can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boyko tries to reverse the position but Smith maintains control.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith trying to control but Boyko is having none of it.

Smith has control of Boyko's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Boyko regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith looking to control but Boyko is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Smith dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boyko tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boyko to the ground. Boyko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A countering left hand to the body from Boyko misses.
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Boyko on that attempt.
Smith tries to clinch up

and Boyko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.

Boyko is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Boyko wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boyko wants to take a breather but Smith manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Boyko.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boyko wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boyko can do to turn this around?

Boyko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Boyko, into his guard.

Boyko has momentary wrist control but Smith slips an elbow through the middle.
Smith scoring with some ground and pound.
Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Boyko tries to control but Smith manages to take his back.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boyko prevents Smith from getting a body triangle.

Smith has his arm under Boyko's chin here. Game over son! Smith squeezes tightly and Boyko is forced to tap out!
