PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kylma Jaak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JT Redman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redman has chosen Breathe as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kylma Jaak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, JT Redman!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaak drops his hands momentarily and Redman takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Jaak rushes Redman and presses him up against the cage.
Jaak is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
We've been informed that Redman has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Jaak misses with a hook to the ribs.
I was talking to Jaak's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Jaak fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Jaak lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Jaak tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Redman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jaak tries to throw a body punch but Redman avoids it by throwing Jaak back against the cage.
Jaak lands with a left to the head.
Jaak is pushing Redman up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Jaak pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Redman lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jaak or not.

Redman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jaak tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Redman throws a nice inside leg kick.
Redman on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A solid body kick from Redman.
Jaak scores with a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Redman throws the kick towards the body but Jaak avoids it.

Jaak tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Redman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Redman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jaak jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A solid leg kick lands there for Redman.
Jaak throws a head kick but Redman moves out of range.
Jaak walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


It looks like Kylma Jaak has been cut.
Jaak connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jaak closes the distance and clinches up with Redman, looking for a takedown. Jaak pushes Redman against the cage but Redman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Redman tries to land a front kick but Jaak steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Redman scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A slapping body kick lands there for Redman.
Jaak is breathing heavily.
Redman feints and then cracks Jaak's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jaak down.
Redman circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jaak is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Redman.
Redman is looking for the big counter here.
Jaak thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jaak is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Redman let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
A nice inside leg kick there by Redman. That's going to slow Jaak down.

Redman tries to sprawl but Jaak drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Redman pushes Jaak off looking to stand but Jaak dives back in and keeps control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Redman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jaak is working for a kimura but Redman is defending it quite comfortably.
Jaak missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Jaak throwing shots but Redman is blocking nicely.

Jaak is trying for a kimura here. Redman looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Jaak wins by kimura!
