Rapture comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Jimmy Smith has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Joaquim Rapture's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Smith!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rapture swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith throws a counter combo.

and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rapture manages to avoid it.

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Rapture looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Smith looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rapture's head.
Rapture has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.

Rapture stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith wants to stand and escape but Rapture is having none of it.
Rapture loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rapture pivots, looking for a leg kick but Smith is out of range and Rapture settles back down.
Smith let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Smith shoots for a takedown but Rapture saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fighters circling - Rapture throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Smith smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Rapture throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Smith stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rapture throws a looping overhand right but Smith ducks down to avoid it.
Rapture throws the left hand but Smith avoids the punch easily.
A nice side step and Smith releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Smith is looking to clinch.
A punch lands to the side of Smith 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Rapture scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rapture moves out of range of the body kick from Smith.
Rapture is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Joaquim Rapture seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rapture shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.

You can see the frustration on Rapture's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee asks Smith politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Smith prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rapture is not content to let Smith control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rapture is pressing down on Smith's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Rapture has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joaquim Rapture.
I think Rapture has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Joaquim Rapture tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
