Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kendrik Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ric Flores (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Down's entrance music is Let's Go. A fine choice. Ric Flores has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kendrik Down's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ric Flores!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Down shoots in and gets a takedown into Flores's guard.
Flores wants to sweep but no luck.

Down avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Down in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Down working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Down seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Down got a little sloppy there for a moment and Flores has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Down has managed to get both his arms back between Flores's legs - danger averted.

My spies in El Tico 's Academy inform me that Flores has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Horrible takedown attempt by Down or perhaps it was just good defense by Flores, which made it look bad.

Flores is nestled in close to Down, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Flores looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Down with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Down is looking for a sweep. Flores is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Good leg kick by Flores there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Down shoots for a double leg takedown but Flores sprawls well. He's pushed Down's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well Flores has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
