The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herzog shoots in but Spikes avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Spikes gets the takedown into side control.
Herzog sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Herzog is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Herzog is looking to control Spikes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Herzog avoid being mounted?

Spikes seems to be looking for submissions.
Herzog moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Herzog manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spikes is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Herzog is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Spikes is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Spikes flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Herzog anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Spikes and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Herzog slips an arm under Spikes chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Herzog has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Herzog is squeezing on Spikes like an anaconda would it's prey. Spikes fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
