PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Delbert Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Hayden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Delbert Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Hayden!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant slips a jab and a cross from Hayden.
Hayden tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grant was well out of range. Poor timing from Hayden.
Grant drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hayden sprawls and moves away.
Hayden cracks Grant with a good jab.


It looks like Delbert Grant has been cut.
A jab from Hayden finds it's way through Grant's defenses.
Hayden scores with a three punch combo!
Hayden falls off balance throwing a combination

and Grant counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Grant really is a fat lump.

Grant looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Grant stops Hayden from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grant is controlling the pace.

Hayden looking for submissions off his back.
Grant controlling the action here.

Grant is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hayden is just riding it out for now. Grant eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Grant sitting and controlling from the half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Grant decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hayden is looking for a sweep. Grant is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Grant is trying to work for a kimura but Hayden is defending well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Grant in particular looking to stall.
Hayden trying to control but Grant postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Grant throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Grant is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hayden controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Grant is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Hayden will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Delbert Grant's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hayden moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Grant gets the takedown into side control.
Hayden is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Grant has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Grant decides to stand back up.
Hayden misses with a double jab

and Grant counters by clinching up.

Grant turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Grant manages to end up in side control.

Hayden bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hayden lands a left and a right that send Grant crashing to the mat, dazed. Hayden thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Grant is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hayden grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Grant takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Hayden cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Daniel Hayden!
Daniel Hayden thanked the fans post fight for their support.
