Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Connor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vic Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone. Connor McGregor has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Stone misses the target.
Stone shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McGregor defends it nicely.
Stone avoids the head kick by McGregor.
A head kick misses from McGregor.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Stone.
Stone tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGregor was well out of range. Poor timing from Stone.
McGregor appears to be looking for a big counter.

McGregor throws a right hand that Stone ducks under and follows up with a left that Stone also avoids with ease.

McGregor is trying to stand back up but Stone is controlling him

McGregor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stone on the ground.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Stone working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

McGregor won't allow Stone to pass to mount.
Stone wants to control but McGregor is keeping him busy.
Stone is pressing down on McGregor's thigh, looking to free his foot. McGregor is holding on for now.
McGregor is not content to let Stone control the position.

Stone wants to work for an arm triangle but McGregor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McGregor wants to get back to his feet.

Stone is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McGregor has managed to free his arm - good work.

Stone is working for a submission of some sort.
McGregor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Stone is keen to just control but McGregor is a slippery customer.
McGregor is concentrating on defense, preventing Stone from advancing position.

Stone is looking for a kimura but McGregor is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stone to get the leverage.

Stone stalling away here and it's allowed McGregor to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stone lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Stone on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That was a close round but I would say that Connor McGregor will probably get the nod.

Stone dives in and grabs McGregor's left leg, looking for a takedown. McGregor pushes down on Stone's head and hops out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Stone lands a left hand that snaps the head of McGregor backwards.
Stone is trying to pull guard but McGregor turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

I was talking to McGregor's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stone is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McGregor will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Stone has an active guard here but McGregor has managed to pass into half guard.

McGregor seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

McGregor looks to land a combination but Stone avoids it well.
McGregor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Good leg kick by Stone there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Stone shoots in for a takedown but McGregor shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McGregor ducks under a wild hook from Stone.

and McGregor counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Stone is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Stone is still on wobbly legs! Can McGregor finish him?
Stone throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Stone seems to have recovered his senses.
Stone is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
McGregor tries a head kick but it misses.
McGregor takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as McGregor checks a leg kick.
McGregor is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stone.

McGregor lands a left and a right that send Stone crashing to the mat, dazed. McGregor thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Whack! McGregor lands a heavy head kick that drops Stone. The ref tackles McGregor to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Stone was done.
