PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Austin Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Higgs Boson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boson throws a lazy right hand but Adams sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Boson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Boson there as he acknowledges the shot.
Boson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Adams throws a series of punches but Boson avoids them all with ease.
Boson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Adams.
An attempted straight right counter from Adams misses the target.
Adams throws a jab when Boson was well out of range.
Boson tries to counter with a clinch but Adams shakes him off and moves away.
Boson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

It looks like Higgs Boson has been cut.
Boson throws a looping overhand right but Adams ducks down to avoid it.
It looked like Adams was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Boson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

It looks like Austin Adams has been cut.
Adams looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Boson moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Adams goes down! Can Boson finish him!?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boson advances to half guard.
Adams keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Boson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Adams is just riding it out for now. Boson eventually gives up the hold.

Boson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Adams defends it well.

Well, if Boson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Boson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Boson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Adams regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Boson.
Adams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boson on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Adams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Boson trying to control but Adams is working from the bottom.
Boson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Adams works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Boson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Adams takes one to the chin there.
Boson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Adams.
Boson throws a body punch but Adams moves out of range.

Adams is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Adams is breathing heavily.
Adams get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Adams stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Boson runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
