Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Matrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alberto Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johny Matrix!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Matrix has taken the fight to the clinch.
Matrix lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Nice body punch from Matrix.
Reyes working hard to break the clinch.

Matrix escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Matrix throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Reyes's head.


It looks like Alberto Reyes has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Matrix.
Reyes was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Reyes tries to clinch but Matrix is having none of it.

Reyes shoots in but Matrix avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Matrix forces Reyes back against the cage and clinches.
Reyes is trying to break the clinch but Matrix has him pressed against the cage.

Reyes decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Matrix fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A chopping leg kick lands by Matrix.
Reyes moves in looking to clinch but Matrix pushes him off.
Matrix only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Reyes misses with a double jab

and Matrix holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Reyes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Matrix breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alberto Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reyes moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Reyes dives in and grabs Matrix's left leg, looking for a takedown. Matrix pushes down on Reyes's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alberto Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Matrix throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matrix ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Matrix no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Matrix manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reyes manages to get himself to full guard.


Matrix postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reyes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matrix, into his guard.

Matrix is looking for a triangle but Reyes pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Reyes throws an elbow that misses. Matrix uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reyes's guard. Nice move by Matrix!

Reyes keeping moving, preventing Matrix from controlling successfully.
Matrix trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reyes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Matrix decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Reyes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matrix swivels and escapes.
Matrix throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Reyes is breathing heavily.

Matrix shoots in and gets a takedown into Reyes's guard.
Reyes is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Matrix dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Reyes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alberto Reyes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Reyes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matrix moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Matrix thinks about the counter body kick.

and Matrix counters with a three punch combo that has Reyes backing up. Reyes nods at Matrix to acknowledge the strikes.
Reyes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Matrix.

Reyes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Reyes can't keep his opponent in guard - Matrix advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Matrix has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Matrix decides to stand back up. Matrix steps back and let's Reyes get back to his feet.
Reyes leaves Matrix with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Reyes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matrix moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A nice side step and Matrix releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Reyes takes the fight into the clinch.

Matrix pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Matrix shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reyes as he jumps to the side.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Matrix changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reyes tries to avoid it but Matrix manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reyes to the ground. Reyes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Matrix keeps the fight on the outside.

Matrix forces Reyes back against the cage and clinches.
Reyes avoiding damage as Matrix throws knees to the body.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Matrix with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Reyes throws a leg kick but Matrix sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Matrix shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Reyes misses with a looping left.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reyes dives in and grabs Matrix's left leg, looking for a takedown. Matrix pushes down on Reyes's head and hops out.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Matrix is on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Matrix looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Reyes wants to improve his position but Matrix is controlling well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johny Matrix comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Matrix has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
