PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Geissen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darby Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. United Booty Foundation kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Shawn Geissen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Shawn Geissen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shawn Geissen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Darby Gordon!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon lands a head shot.

Gordon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Geissen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gordon throws a shot to the body.
Geissen fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gordon on the side of the head.
Geissen avoids the head kick by Gordon.
Geissen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Geissen.

Darby Gordon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gordon is trying to control the action in half guard but Geissen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Gordon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Geissen sprawls well. Geissen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gordon gets slowly back to his feet.
Gordon throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Geissen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gordon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Geissen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gordon's calf.

Gordon looks to land a left hand but Geissen moved out of range nicely.
Geissen looks to throw the jab but Gordon is out of range.
The fighters circling - Geissen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Geissen backing away here, and Gordon unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Gordon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Geissen defends well and Gordon ends up having to push Geissen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shawn Geissen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darby Gordon.

and Geissen makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Geissen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Gordon drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Geissen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Gordon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Gordon is looking for a kimura but Geissen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gordon to get the leverage.

Gordon has his foot on Geissen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Geissen works his way back into a safe position though.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Shawn Geissen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
