The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shrubbery throws a leg kick that is checked

and Anderson counters with a shoot takedown. Shrubbery fights it but they end up in guard.

Shrubbery is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.

Shrubbery is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Anderson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shrubbery is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shrubbery looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Shrubbery lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shrubbery drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shrubbery jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Anderson keeping moving, preventing Shrubbery from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shrubbery sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Anderson's guard.
Anderson is staying active underneath Shrubbery, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Shrubbery wants to pass to mount but Anderson is defending the position.
Shrubbery passes to side control.

Shrubbery thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Shrubbery in side control, throwing shots but Anderson defends.

Shrubbery is looking to take a break and control but Anderson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Shrubbery tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Shrubbery lands a nice elbow.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shrubbery throws a low kick but it's checked well by Anderson.
Anderson throws a quick counter kick to the body but Shrubbery avoids it.
Shrubbery moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Shrubbery lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Anderson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Anderson can't find room to land a body shot as Shrubbery controls the action.
Anderson struggles to land a body shot inside as Shrubbery controls his hands.
Shrubbery misses with a knee strike.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Anderson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Shrubbery on the side of the head.

Shrubbery misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A low kick from Shrubbery is predictable there

and Anderson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Anderson wanted to stand there but Shrubbery had control of the position.

Shrubbery looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Shrubbery is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Anderson has his hands clasped together but Shrubbery extends and breaks Anderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Shrubbery.
