PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlon Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Marlon Gibbs was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rose clinches with his opponent.
Gibbs tries a knee to the head but Rose blocks it.

Gibbs decides to pull guard.

Rose slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Gibbs controls Rose momentarily but Rose frees himself.
Rose's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gibbs can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gibbs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gibbs doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gibbs has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Rose has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Rose is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gibbs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
