Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mohammed Franks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Davids!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davids looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Davids looking to sit in guard and control but Franks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Franks's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Franks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Franks stops Davids from standing up.
Franks tries to stand but Davids is controlling from the bottom.
Davids looking to hit a scissor sweep but Franks is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Franks stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Franks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Davids but Davids pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Davids tries to counter with a clinch but Franks shakes him off and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Davids darts in and clinches Franks up against the cage.
Davids stalling in the clinch but Franks improves position.
Franks lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Franks's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Davids wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Franks turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Franks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Davids is looking to reverse the position.
Franks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Franks tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Franks has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Franks lands an elbow.
Franks is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Davids will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Davids is trying to control Franks's posture but Franks avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Franks has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Franks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Franks tries for a kimura but Davids is defending well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Franks takes a little break here. Davids wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Davids tries to bench press Franks off him but Franks keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Franks moves into full mount!
Davids tries to lock up and control but Franks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Franks is working for a guillotine from mount but Davids frees his head quite easily.
Davids keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Franks is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Franks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mohammed Franks!
