Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Julio Madrigal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yaniv Schulmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Madrigal comes to the cage accompanied by Lil Jon-Throw it Up. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 19 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Julio Madrigal!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yaniv Schulmann!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madrigal connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Schulmann moves out of range of the strikes.
Schulmann drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Madrigal defends it well.
Schulmann throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Schulmann throws the left hand but Madrigal avoids the punch easily.
Schulmann throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Madrigal drives through with a takedown into Schulmann's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schulmann is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Madrigal is in close to Schulmann's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Madrigal throws an elbow that misses. Schulmann uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Madrigal's guard. Nice move by Schulmann!

Madrigal bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schulmann's guard.

Madrigal passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Schulmann is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Schulmann's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Madrigal works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Madrigal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Madrigal perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Madrigal throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Madrigal is looking to take a break and control but Schulmann is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Schulmann is pressing down on Madrigal's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Madrigal lying in Schulmann's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Schulmann decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Madrigal taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Yaniv Schulmann! Yaniv Schulmann retains his bantamweight title!
Our winner, Yaniv Schulmann, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Julio Madrigal was interviewed post fight and said 'Props to him, he beat me fair and square this time. I will go back to the gym and get better, I'm going to win my belt back.'.
