PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nerd Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Truck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz dives in and grabs Truck's left leg, looking for a takedown. Truck pushes down on Diaz's head and hops out.
Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.

Truck tries a quick counter leg kick but Diaz is wise to it.
Truck has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Truck throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Truck lands a slapping body shot.
Truck drops his hands momentarily and Diaz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Truck fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Diaz.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Diaz throws a hook to the side of Truck's head but Truck sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Truck swats away the attempt to clinch by Diaz.
Diaz throws a body punch but Truck moves out of range.
Diaz tests Truck's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Truck throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Truck is in Diaz's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Truck is standing up over Diaz. Diaz looks to escape but Truck dives into side control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Diaz rushes Truck and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Truck seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A close round but Tommy Truck will probably get the nod.
That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Diaz tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Truck is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Truck is pressed up against the cage. Diaz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Truck down to the mat. Truck avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz is pushing down on Truck's leg trying to pass to half guard. Truck is fighting to maintain full guard but Diaz has managed to sneak the leg through.
Truck manages to get to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Truck can do anything to dispel that myth.
Truck seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Truck is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Truck wants to sweep but no luck.

Diaz stands up from Truck's guard - Diaz perhaps looking for a knockout.
Truck scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Truck takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Truck takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Diaz wants to clinch.
Nerd Diaz is winning the standup battle so far.
Diaz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Diaz walks forward, straight into a front kick from Truck.
Truck will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Truck shoots in and bounces Diaz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
