The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia tries to clinch but Pennington is having none of it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maia.
Pennington swats away the attempt to clinch by Maia.
Maia sizes up Pennington with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maia fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pennington tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Maia manages to circle out of the way.
Pennington changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
