Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Max Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Striker Mc Steel!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams throws a sloppy head kick
and Mc Steel counters by moving into the clinch.
Mc Steel breaks the clinch.
Mc Steel stuffs the takedown.
Adams tries for a takedown but Mc Steel circles away easily
and Mc Steel moves into the clinch.
Mc Steel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adams fails with an attempt to clinch.
And Mc Steel tries to counter it with a takedown but Adams pushes his down on his head and steps out.
No joy there for Mc Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Adams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mc Steel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mc Steel tries to counter with a clinch but Adams shakes him off and moves away.
Adams definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mc Steel throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Adams.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Adams with a poor takedown
and Mc Steel counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mc Steel.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Adams can't get the takedown.
Mc Steel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Adams moves in looking to clinch but Mc Steel pushes him off.
Adams shoots in but Mc Steel avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Adams motions for Mc Steel to come forward. Adams throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Adams is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Adams fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Adams throws a right hand that misses
so Mc Steel counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Adams wants to get back to his feet but Mc Steel passes into half guard.
Adams is looking to escape.
Adams is looking to improve his position.
Mc Steel decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Max Adams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mc Steel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mc Steel with the counter takedown but Adams avoids it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mc Steel lands a leg kick that knocks Adams off balance momentarily.
Donk. Mc Steel catches Adams right on the button with a cross.
Whack! Mc Steel lands a heavy head kick that drops Adams. The ref tackles Mc Steel to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Adams was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Striker Mc Steel!
In defeat, Max Adams stepped up to the mic, saying 'Next time I'm just bring more pain '.
