Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jewel Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jewel Cote is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jewel Cote!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cote scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Cote gets to mount! Hicks was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cote is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hicks has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Hicks is squirming around, avoiding Cote's attempts to control the action.
Hicks really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cote swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hicks is now in Cote's guard. A big mistake from Cote there, giving up the dominant position!
Cote should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hicks thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hicks postures up and lands a big shot to Cote's brow.

Hicks drops back looking for a leg! Cote is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cote manages to kick Hicks off! Hicks jumps back into Cote's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hicks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hicks in particular looking to stall.
Cote is staying active underneath Hicks, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cote is trying to control but can't.
Hicks blocks the strikes from Cote.

Hicks is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Cote flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cote is looking to improve his position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cote is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cote changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hicks looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cote is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hicks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hicks manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cote's best efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jewel Cote will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hicks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hicks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cote is looking to regain half guard here but Hicks keeps moving and retains side control.

Cote is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
