Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudi Dassler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Ford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Rudi Dassler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rob Ford!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Ford misses.
Ford changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Ford looks to throw the jab but Dassler is out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ford stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dassler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dassler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ford gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dassler is looking for a triangle here but Ford uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Ford wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dassler keeps working.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ford thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dassler is looking for a sweep.

Ford is looking to take a break and control but Dassler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ford looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ford is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dassler is just riding it out for now. Ford eventually gives up the hold.

Dassler tries to counter by clinching up but Ford breaks away and moves out of range.
Ford has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dassler avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dassler closes the distance and clinches up with Ford, looking for a takedown. Dassler pushes Ford against the cage but Ford circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dassler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ford has his foot on Dassler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dassler works his way back into a safe position though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dassler has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ford is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dassler.
