Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Torsten Svensson!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Svensson clinches up against the cage.
Washington tries to land knees in the clinch but Svensson avoids the damage to the body.

Svensson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Washington uses from the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Washington tries to counter by clinching up but Svensson breaks away and moves out of range.

Washington manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Svensson on his heels. He'll look to pass Svensson's guard now, I'm sure.

Washington is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Svensson defends well.

Svensson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Washington sprawls well. Washington wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Svensson gets slowly back to his feet.

and Washington counters with a nice double leg into side control. Svensson won't be happy with that.

Svensson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Washington has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Svensson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Washington lands a decent elbow from side control.
Washington really is a fat lump.
Washington is trying to ground and pound but Svensson uses the momentary lack of control by Washington to regain half guard.

Washington is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Svensson is just riding it out for now. Washington eventually gives up the hold.
Svensson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

You can see the frustration on Washington's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Svensson is looking to take a break and control but Washington is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Washington can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Svensson controls the pace.

Svensson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Washington to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Svensson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Washington pulls down on the head and he's put Svensson to sleep! This one is all over!
