Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Combat Jack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jack swings for the body but Thompson moves out of range.
Good standup being displayed there by Jack as he connects with a hook.
Jack is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thompson.
Jack throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A combination from Jack does no damage.
Thompson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jack drops Thompson with a right and a left! Jack comes rushing in but Thompson regains his composure and manages to keep Jack in guard.


Thompson is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jack controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Thompson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jack can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jack looking to pass the guard.
Jack looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Jack is looking to advance position but Thompson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thompson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jack avoids a strike by Thompson and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Thompson's guard! Fantastic escape!
Jack controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Thompson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jack engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Thompson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jack dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thompson wants to get back to his feet.
Jack lands a few punches from side control.
Jack happy to just control the position for now.
Thompson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jack.
Thompson on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Jack works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jack is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thompson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Thompson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jack prevents Thompson from escaping the position.
Jack takes a little break here. Thompson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jack is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Combat Jack dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jack scores with a jab to the jaw.
Jack misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A head kick by Jack misses

and Thompson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Thompson.
Jack looking for a sweep. Not yet Jack, not yet.
Jack pulls Thompson in close to his closed guard and prevents Thompson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Thompson tries to free his leg and advance position but Jack is retaining full guard.
Thompson keeps trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jack bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thompson's guard.

Jack wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.
Jack is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thompson is looking to stand up but Jack isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jack drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Thompson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jack has Thompson in his guard.

Combat Jack overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thompson slips nicely into half guard.
Jack works his way to full guard. Good work.
Thompson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jack works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Thompson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jack swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thompson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jack looking for a sweep. Not yet Jack, not yet.
Jack is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thompson can do to turn this around?

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jack had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thompson defends it easily.
Thompson postures up.

Thompson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thompson has managed to get both his arms back between Jack's legs - danger averted.
Jack is pulling down on Thompson's head to control his posture.
Jack has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Thompson trying to control the position from guard on top but Jack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Jack is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jack throws a series of punches but Thompson avoids them all with ease.

Thompson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jack manages to get to full guard.
Thompson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jack pushes a forearm under Thompson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Thompson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Combat Jack!
Combat Jack decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
