The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manalo shoots in for a double leg but Clemons sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Manalo is pushing Clemons up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The referee calls for Manalo to work.
Clemons has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Manalo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Clemons wants to get back to striking at distance but Manalo won't allow it.

Clemons dives in and grabs Manalo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Manalo pushes down on Clemons's head and hops out.
Manalo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Manalo shoots in for a double leg but Clemons sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Manalo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Clemons as he jumps to the side.

and Manalo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Manalo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Clemons but Clemons pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Manalo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Clemons sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Manalo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Clemons throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Manalo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clemons's waist but Clemons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Manalo off to one side.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Clemons.

and Manalo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Manalo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Clemons defends well and Manalo ends up having to push Clemons into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Manalo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Manalo jumps into guard, dragging Clemons to the mat.

Clemons in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Clemons throwing strikes from guard but Manalo blocks nicely.

Clemons gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Manalo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Clemons checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Clemons is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
