PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kylma Jaak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reuben Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cox comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lituation-Fabolous kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kylma Jaak could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Reuben Cox's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kylma Jaak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Reuben Cox!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jaak forces Cox back against the cage and clinches.
Jaak using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Cox has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Jaak has a couple of punches blocked by Cox.
Jaak lands a nice shot to the body.
Jaak tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Cox throws a punch but it's blocked by Jaak.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cox.

Jaak tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cox's elbow.
Jaak unloads a knee to the mid-section. Cox lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Cox jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jaak walks away with a smile on his face. Cox gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaak goes for a double leg but Cox avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cox continues to drive forward.

Jaak lands a big head kick that sends Cox tumbling to the mat! Jaak takes a step backwards and waves Cox back to his feet - he wants the finish!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cox has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

The crowd cheers as Jaak lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cox doesn't seem phased though.

Cox catches Jaak with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Cox fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jaak to the ground. Cox is now in Jaak's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jaak has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cox is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cox swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cox drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jaak looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jaak looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jaak!

Jaak looks up at the clock and then as Cox takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jaak smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jaak, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
