The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Force leaves Machado with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Machado tries for a takedown but Force circles away easily

and Force counters by clinching up.
Force has a couple of punches blocked by Machado.
Machado missing with knees to the body.

Machado ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Machado no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Force stays in close to Machado's body and controls the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Machado working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Force doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Machado is tightening it up a little... Force has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Force reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Force taps out! Nice BJJ there by Machado!

John Machado decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
