Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Milford Mejia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wazza The Kid!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mejia has closed the distance and engaged The Kid in a clinch.

Mejia has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics The Kid uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mejia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in The Kid's guard.

Mejia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Kid tries to strike from the bottom.
Mejia is in close to The Kid's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The Kid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The Kid is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mejia pulls his head out easily.
Mejia content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The Kid is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mejia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The Kid manages to get himself to full guard.

Mejia's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Mejia fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with The Kid, pushing him back against the cage.

Mejia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mejia has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mejia is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that The Kid can do to turn this around?
The Kid wants to sweep but Mejia has passed to side control!
The Kid is letting Mejia control him for a moment.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Mejia.

Mejia decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mejia clinches.

Mejia turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mejia manages to end up in side control.
The Kid wants to get back to his feet but Mejia is dominant here and he's now got The Kid's back!
Mejia has good solid back control here.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Mejia is stinking the place up with his stalling.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



The Kid shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. The Kid showed some decent athleticism there.

Mejia manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. The Kid keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Mejia throws an elbow that misses.
A frustrated look appears on The Kid's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mejia lands a body punch in the clinch.

The Kid successfully pulls guard.
Mejia slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The Kid wants to control but Mejia passes easily into half guard.
The Kid takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mejia decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Mejia clinches up with The Kid and pushes him back against the cage.
Mejia can't find room to land a body shot as The Kid controls the action.
Mejia throws an elbow but it misses.

Mejia drags the fight down to the ground.
Mejia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The Kid manages to get himself to full guard.

The Kid looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mejia puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Mejia looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mejia lands a nice short elbow.
Still in half guard, Mejia seems content to control.
The Kid wants to improve his position but Mejia is controlling well.
Mejia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Mejia decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Milford Mejia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The Kid shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Mejia is pulling down on The Kid's head to control his posture.
Mejia is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
