Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez has chosen Kryptonite as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Darius Henderson and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Santos's head.
Santos misses with the combination.
Santos looks to score with a jab to the body but Velasquez is just out of range.

Velasquez throws a series of punches but Santos moves out of range.
Velasquez scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Santos appears to be looking for a big counter.

Velasquez dives in for a single leg takedown but Santos sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Santos swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Velasquez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Santos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Velasquez somewhat.

Santos throws a right hand that Velasquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Velasquez also avoids with ease.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santos as he avoids it easily.
Junior Dos Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Velasquez.
Santos lands a nice shot that snaps Velasquez's head back.

Velasquez shoots in and drives through. Santos sprawls well.

Horrible takedown attempt by Velasquez or perhaps it was just good defense by Santos, which made it look bad.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santos but Santos pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Velasquez circles away quickly and effectively.
Velasquez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Santos defends it well.
Santos misses with a double jab.
Santos sizes up Velasquez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.


It looks like Cain Velasquez has been cut.
Some wild striking there from Velasquez.
Santos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Velasquez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Santos looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Velasquez counters with a nice uppercut.
Santos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Santos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Velasquez finds it's way round the side to connect with Santos's head.

Velasquez shoots in and gets a takedown into Santos's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velasquez cracks Santos with a solid left hand.

Santos is working an open guard so Velasquez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Santos lands with an uppercut that bounces Velasquez off the cage and back into range.
Santos throws a right and a left that Velasquez avoids nicely.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Santos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Velasquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Velasquez goes for a double leg but Santos avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Santos continues to drive forward.
Velasquez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Santos's waist but Santos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velasquez off to one side.
Velasquez is breathing heavily.

Velasquez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Velasquez is defended easily by Santos.

Santos cracks Velasquez with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Santos has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Velasquez to stand back up!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez closes the distance and clinches up with Santos, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes Santos against the cage but Santos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Velasquez is still on wobbly legs! Can Santos finish him?
Velasquez is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Santos doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Velasquez crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Velasquez's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Junior Dos Santos!
A relieved looking Junior Dos Santos thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
