PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Matt Hunt has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Matt Hunt seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Marsh!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt throws a right hand that misses
enabling Marsh to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Matt Hunt has been cut.
Marsh throws a low kick, looking for Hunt's leg but Hunt calmly moves out of range.
Marsh with a nice cross.
Matt Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hunt misses the jab.
Marsh slips under a jab from Hunt.
A jab from Hunt finds it's way through Marsh's defenses.
Hunt looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hunt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Marsh stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A punch lands to the side of Hunt 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hunt.

Hunt closes the distance and clinches.
Knees in the clinch landing for Hunt.
Marsh looks winded!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hunt misses with some punches.
Marsh throws a punch but it's blocked by Hunt.
Hunt scores with a nice hook to the head.
Hunt pushes Marsh back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Marsh is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Marsh takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Stan Marsh has been cut.

Hunt lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A right handed body shot lands from Hunt.
Hunt lands a hook to the side of the head.
Hunt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Hunt scores with a nice hook to the head.

Marsh swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Hunt misses with a punch on the inside.
Hunt pushes Marsh back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Hunt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Hunt obliges.
Hunt lands a knee to the head.
Hunt lands with a right to the head.
Hunt lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Hunt scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Marsh's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hunt misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hunt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Marsh backwards.
Hunt misses with some punches.

Marsh doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hunt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Marsh tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hunt makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hunt throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Marsh blocks it with crossed arms.
Hunt lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hunt.
Marsh has a couple of punches blocked by Hunt.

Hunt lands a big right hand that sends Marsh to the canvas! This could be the beginning of the end for Marsh!


Marsh is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hunt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Marsh is still in real trouble! Can Hunt finish him?
Hunt controlling the action here.
Hunt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hunt connects with a nice short shot to Marsh's temple.
Marsh seems to have recovered his senses.

Hunt works his way into full mount!
Marsh is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hunt trying to control but Marsh is having none of it.
Marsh tries to hold on but Hunt pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Hunt dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hunt lands a glancing blow to the side of Marsh's head.
Marsh lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hunt looks for the body kick but Marsh saw that one coming.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Marsh! But no joy.
Jab by Hunt.
Marsh has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Hunt and Marsh goes tumbling to the canvas! Hunt follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Hunt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Marsh can do to turn this around?

Hunt wants to pass the guard but Marsh is defending well.
Hunt is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Marsh reverses the position - he's now on top in Hunt's guard.

Hunt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marsh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marsh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hunt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Marsh throwing strikes from guard but Hunt blocks nicely.
Hunt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marsh is one step ahead there.

Hunt wants to sweep here but Marsh controlling him for the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Marsh looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hunt trying to keep a closed guard but Marsh is proving a slippery customer.

Marsh decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hunt, up you get!
Marsh throws a sloppy head kick and Hunt moves out of range easily.

Hunt catches Marsh napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Marsh to the canvas!

Hunt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Marsh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hunt pushes down on Marsh's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hunt is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Hunt wants to pass the guard but Marsh is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hunt passes to full mount!
Marsh wants to control but Hunt is having none of it.
Hunt trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Marsh is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Hunt dominated that second round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Hunt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Hunt counters with a big uppercut that knocks Marsh off his feet! Hunt dives into side control looking to finish!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt advances nicely into full mount.
Hunt trying to control but Marsh is having none of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hunt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marsh is looking to escape.

Matt Hunt is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hunt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Hunt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
