Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Debrickashaw Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Barath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Barath acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Debrickashaw Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Barath!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thomas has managed to clinch.
Barath can't break the clinch.
Barath is trying to break the clinch but Thomas has him pressed against the cage.
Thomas lands a good knee to the midsection. Barath won't want to take too many of those.
Stalling in the clinch from Thomas.

Thomas gets control of Barath's arms and successfully pulls guard. Thomas will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Barath stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thomas is controlling Barath's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thomas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barath doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barath manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barath wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
Barath must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barath steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Thomas.
Barath will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Thomas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barath manages to avoid it.

Barath has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Thomas controls Barath momentarily but Barath frees himself.
Barath throws a big right hand that misses.
Barath seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thomas wants to sweep but no luck.
Thomas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Thomas throws the left hand but Barath avoids the punch easily.
Thomas dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Barath. That did some damage!
Barath takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Barath moves in looking to clinch but Thomas pushes him off.
Thomas throws a nice looking combination but Barath bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Thomas darts in looking for a takedown but Barath gets double underhooks and turns Thomas into the cage.

Thomas rushes Barath and presses him up against the cage.
Thomas lands a knee to the head.

Barath really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomas tries to roll over but Barath keeps him under control.

Barath seems to be working for a kimura but Thomas defends the submission attempt.
Barath stalling away here and it's allowed Thomas to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
