PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Murha Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Ramsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kenny Ramsey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pate lands with a nice body kick.
Pate scores with a hook.
Pate scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ramsey doesn't seem bothered though.
Pate swings away with a body shot that misses
and Ramsey counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ramsey!
Pate throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ramsey sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pate missing with a left hand there. Ramsey was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Pate definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pate checks a leg kick.
A jab from Pate misses.
Ramsey swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pate shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Ramsey smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Ramsey throws a lazy uppercut
and Pate counters with a thumping low kick.
Pate takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Ramsey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ramsey takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Ramsey lands a right hook to the body.
Ramsey moves out of range of the strikes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ramsey! But no joy.

A chopping leg kick lands by Pate.
Ramsey lands with a nice body punch.
Ramsey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pate was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Ramsey fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pate looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ramsey avoids the body shot from Pate.
Pate checks a leg kick nicely.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ramsey.
Pate misses with a shot to the body
and Ramsey counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Pate misses with a wild body shot.
Ramsey looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Pate misses with an attempted mid kick.

Murha Pate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramsey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pate.
Ramsey tries a head kick but it misses.
Pate tries to counter by clinching up but Ramsey breaks away and moves out of range.

Ramsey's coach down at CT + BJJ & Wrestling sparring gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ramsey's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Ramsey is rocked!

Pate pushes Ramsey against the cage. Pate is working some dirty boxing. Pate pushes off with a quick right hook! Ramsey goes down! Ramsey tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Pate moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
