Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcelo Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake yi!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
yi looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Garcia appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Garcia moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Garcia avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Garcia defending well as yi loads up on a big left hand.
Garcia attempts a counter takedown but yi avoids it well and moves away.
yi scores with the left hand. Garcia knows he should have avoided that one.
yi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Garcia counters with a shoot takedown. yi fights it but they end up in guard.
Garcia works over yi with some ground and pound from guard.
yi wants to improve his position but instead Garcia has moved into half guard.
Garcia looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
yi looks like he's trying to stand up.
yi pushes Garcia off but Garcia dives into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if yi can do anything to dispel that myth.
yi seems a little lost for a moment, as Garcia dominates the positioning.

That's one minute gone in the round.
yi tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
yi is looking to get back to his feet here but Garcia is keeping cool and he's managed to take yi's back.

Garcia is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged yi with him. yi is trying to defend but Garcia has an arm under the chin now! yi grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcelo Garcia!
In defeat, Jake yi stepped up to the mic, saying 'the snake will return.'.
