PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Chunk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allan Goodwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allan Goodwin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Chunk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Allan Goodwin!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodwin misses with a straight left.
Chunk doesn't manage to clinch there - Goodwin circles away.
Chunk takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Chunk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chunk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Goodwin tries to avoid it but Chunk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Goodwin to the ground. Goodwin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chunk cracks Goodwin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
We've been told by Chunk's head coaches at 3Band MMA ($500/week) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Goodwin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Goodwin swings for the body but Chunk moves out of range.
Goodwin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Chunk throws a head kick that misses.
Chunk tries to bum rush Goodwin with a series of wild strikes but Goodwin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Chunk seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodwin misses with an uppercut.
Chunk tries a head kick but it misses.
Goodwin swats away the attempt to clinch by Chunk.
Chunk scores with a three punch combo!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chunk scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Chunk ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Goodwin moves away.
Goodwin lands with a thumping leg kick.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goodwin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Goodwin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Goodwin is looking to work some ground and pound but Chunk has wrist control.
Goodwin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Chunk can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Goodwin controls the pace.
Goodwin cracks Chunk with a solid left hand.

Goodwin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goodwin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Goodwin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Goodwin winds up and cracks Chunk with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Goodwin has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Chunk defend it? Goodwin steps over the head and cranks it - Chunk is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Goodwin!
