The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trik shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Trik was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Trik is chipping away with strikes.
Nixon wants to control but Trik postures up.
Nixon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Trik wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Trik decides to stand back up. Trik steps back and let's Nixon get back to his feet.
Trik misses with a wild combination.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Trik. Nixon shrugs it off though.

Trik gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nixon to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Trik scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Nixon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Trik quickly recovers to half guard.

Trik has one foot on Nixon's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Star Trik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nixon ducks right into an uppercut from Trik.
Sloppy strikes from Trik. Those never looked like landing.

Trik gets tackled into the cage by Nixon. Nixon maintains the clinch.

Trik gets control of Nixon's arms and successfully pulls guard. Trik will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Trik throws a head kick that misses.
Nixon is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Nixon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Trik throws a leg kick but Nixon checks it.

Nixon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Trik's guard.

Trik scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Nixon drives through with a takedown into Trik's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Trik has his feet on Nixon's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Nixon is breathing heavily.

Trik breaks from the clinch.
Trik goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Trik throws a nice looking combination but Nixon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Trik throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Trik shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Trik was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nixon is trying to control Trik's posture but Trik avoids it.
The strikes coming from Trik are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Trik decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Trik scores with a takedown into Nixon's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nixon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Trik has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Trik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Trik fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Star Trik seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Trik has closed the distance and engaged Nixon in a clinch.

Nixon is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

It looks like Rudolf Nixon has been cut.

Trik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Oh Nixon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Trik lands a huge takedown. Nixon is out but the ref is slow to react and Trik lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Nixon lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
