PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clubber Bull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veli Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bull comes to the cage accompanied by Rage. Veli Schwarzeneg is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clubber Bull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 70 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Veli Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bull gets tackled into the cage by Schwarzeneg. Schwarzeneg maintains the clinch.
Bull misses with a short punch on the inside.
Schwarzeneg has Bull pressed against the cage, preventing Bull from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Schwarzeneg works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Schwarzeneg lands a couple of elbows.
Bull looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schwarzeneg is one step ahead there.
Schwarzeneg sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Bull has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Schwarzeneg has passed into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schwarzeneg throws an elbow but Bull slips to the side and avoids it well.

Schwarzeneg tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Schwarzeneg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bull keeps working.
Bull is looking for a sweep.
Schwarzeneg throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The strikes coming from Schwarzeneg are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Schwarzeneg throws an elbow but Bull slips to the side and avoids it well.

Schwarzeneg decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Bull goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Schwarzeneg turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Schwarzeneg has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schwarzeneg wants to stand but Bull has his arm trapped.

Schwarzeneg decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bull to his feet.

Schwarzeneg shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schwarzeneg showed some decent athleticism there.
Bull preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Bull is looking for a sweep. Schwarzeneg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Schwarzeneg works his way into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bull tries to bench press Schwarzeneg off him but Schwarzeneg keeps the position.
Schwarzeneg fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veli Schwarzeneg dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Bull gets the takedown into side control.

Schwarzeneg sneaks out the side door and pushes Bull away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Schwarzeneg closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bull quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bull moves into full guard.
Bull tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Schwarzeneg wants to control from the top but Bull keeps moving.
Schwarzeneg tries to stand but Bull is controlling from the bottom.

Schwarzeneg decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bull, up you get!

Schwarzeneg drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bull looking for a sweep. Not yet Bull, not yet.
Schwarzeneg wants to get up but he can't break Bull's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bull looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Bull looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Schwarzeneg trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bull's guard.
Schwarzeneg is fighting to break Bull's control of his arms but Bull is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Schwarzeneg won't allow Bull to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schwarzeneg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bull is on top in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bull works over Schwarzeneg with some ground and pound from guard.
Bull lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Schwarzeneg trying to strike off his back.
Bull is working Schwarzeneg over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Bull stands up over Schwarzeneg, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Schwarzeneg looking for a sweep. Not yet Schwarzeneg, not yet.
Bull lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Bull with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bull stops Schwarzeneg from standing up.
Schwarzeneg has Bull pulled in close to control his posture.
Bull won't allow Schwarzeneg to get back to his feet.

Schwarzeneg kicks Bull off and gets to his feet.

Schwarzeneg feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bull has a closed guard, preventing Schwarzeneg from standing up.

Schwarzeneg wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bull manages to pass to side control.
Bull lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Bull looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Schwarzeneg with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Schwarzeneg manages to get to full guard.
Bull makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bull is in close to Schwarzeneg's body, working some short punches and elbows.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A close second round but Veli Schwarzeneg will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Schwarzeneg tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schwarzeneg has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bull tries to buck Schwarzeneg off but Schwarzeneg is having none of it.
Bull is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Schwarzeneg is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Schwarzeneg's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Schwarzeneg is looking to take a break and control but Bull is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Schwarzeneg is looking for a kimura but Bull is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schwarzeneg to get the leverage.

Clubber Bull has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bull has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bull fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Schwarzeneg counters by clinching up.
Schwarzeneg has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Schwarzeneg has momentary wrist control but Bull slips an elbow through the middle.

Bull lands a couple of elbows.
Bull is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Bull cracks Schwarzeneg with a solid left hand.

Schwarzeneg is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Schwarzeneg gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bull regains guard.

Schwarzeneg fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bull sprawls well initially but Schwarzeneg persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Schwarzeneg wants to stand but Bull has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Veli Schwarzeneg has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bull tries to roll over but Schwarzeneg keeps him under control.
Bull regains full guard. Nicely done.

Schwarzeneg lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Schwarzeneg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bull works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Schwarzeneg wants to stand but Bull is controlling his posture from full guard.
Veli Schwarzeneg is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Veli Schwarzeneg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Schwarzeneg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
