Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Van Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Cortes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Murray has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Van Murray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kurt Cortes!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cortes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Murray throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Cortes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Murray swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cortes shoots in and gets a takedown into Murray's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Murray manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Cortes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Murray is not content to let Cortes control the position.

Cortes is looking to take a break and control but Murray is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cortes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Murray haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Murray has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

and Murray counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Murray.

Murray will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Murray is working Cortes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Murray's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Cortes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cortes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Cortes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Murray is holding on to half guard well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Van Murray showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Murray has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
