Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rene Simard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Kohlahoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Simard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Kohlahoff!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Simard misses.
Kohlahoff is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Simard with a body shot.
Kohlahoff throws a combination. Simard tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kohlahoff.
Simard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Simard looks for a takedown but Kohlahoff sprawls well.
That kick from Kohlahoff tenderised Simard's leg. Simard is trying to keep his angry face on.
Simard shoots in for a takedown but Kohlahoff shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rene Simard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Simard doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kohlahoff counters by moving into the clinch.
Simard misses with a punch on the inside.
Kohlahoff lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Simard wants to stall.

Kohlahoff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kohlahoff closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Simard to the mat! Simard manages to get full guard.
Kohlahoff controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Simard is working an open guard so Kohlahoff takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kohlahoff fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Simard, pushing him back against the cage.

Kohlahoff manages to pull guard.
Kohlahoff is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Simard is controlling him.
Kohlahoff keeping moving, preventing Simard from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simard is breathing heavily.

Simard avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kohlahoff wants to get back to his feet but Simard passes into half guard.
Simard is pressing down on Kohlahoff's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kohlahoff is holding on for now.
Kohlahoff is looking to improve his position.
Kohlahoff punching from the bottom.
Kohlahoff wants to improve his position but Simard is controlling well.

Kohlahoff is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Simard is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kohlahoff is just riding it out for now. Simard eventually gives up the hold.
Simard is trying to control the action in half guard but Kohlahoff is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Simard tries to stand and escape but Kohlahoff is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kohlahoff shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Simard napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kohlahoff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kohlahoff tries to move to mount but Simard blocks the move with his legs.
Kohlahoff lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Simard down.
Kohlahoff controls the position from side control.
Simard is trying to control Kohlahoff's posture but Kohlahoff avoids it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kohlahoff moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Kohlahoff dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kohlahoff scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Kohlahoff shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kohlahoff gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Simard lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kohlahoff has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kohlahoff is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Simard trying to control the position from guard on top but Kohlahoff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kohlahoff pulls Simard in close to his closed guard and prevents Simard from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kohlahoff wants to sweep here but Simard controlling him for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kohlahoff can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kohlahoff pulls Simard in close to prevent any damage.
Let's hope that Kohlahoff has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kohlahoff looking for a sweep. Not yet Kohlahoff, not yet.

Simard wants to control from the top but Kohlahoff keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kohlahoff comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kohlahoff turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A combination from Simard does no damage.
Kohlahoff is looking for the big counter here.

Kohlahoff shoots in and bounces Simard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kohlahoff controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kohlahoff is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Kohlahoff looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Simard trying to keep a closed guard but Kohlahoff is proving a slippery customer.

Kohlahoff is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simard has momentary wrist control but Kohlahoff slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Kohlahoff showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Simard gets caught napping as Kohlahoff dives in and scores a takedown. Simard manages to retain guard.
Kohlahoff lands a couple of digs.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kohlahoff wants to sweep but no luck.
Simard throws a big right hand that misses.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Simard wants to control from the top but Kohlahoff keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Simard is looking to clinch.
Ryan Kohlahoff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simard looks for a takedown but Kohlahoff sprawls well.

Kohlahoff working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Simard wants to get back to full guard.
Kohlahoff keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kohlahoff looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Ryan Kohlahoff comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kohlahoff has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
