Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Captain Boromir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen LL CoolJ - Headsprung as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 33 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Silva!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boromir checks a leg kick.
Silva slips a straight right by Boromir.
Silva throws an overhand right that lands on Boromir's shoulder, as Boromir tries to avoid the shot.
Silva throws a leg kick but Boromir sees it coming and checks it nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Boromir on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Silva fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Boromir avoids it really well and circles away.

Boromir moves into the clinch.
Silva wants to break free but Boromir has control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boromir swings wildly with an uppercut but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.

Silva tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

I was talking to Boromir's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Silva looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Boromir enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Boromir manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Boromir wants to get back to full guard.
Silva wants to take a breather but Boromir is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Captain Boromir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boromir has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Silva finds it's way round the side to connect with Boromir's head.
Boromir throws a big shot that misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Silva! But no joy.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Silva will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Boromir tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Silva manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Boromir throws a hook to the side of Silva's head but Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Boromir sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boromir is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boromir takes Silva's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Silva is in trouble.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Silva attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Boromir takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Boromir is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Well Boromir has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Captain Boromir rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
