The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin stuffs the takedown attempt from McCringe. McCringe gets slowly back to his feet.
Griffin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Griffin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McCringe's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Griffin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McCringe did well to prevent Griffin getting side control.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Griffin working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

That was a close round but I would say that Crose McCringe will probably get the nod.

Griffin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McCringe defends well and Griffin ends up having to push McCringe into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Griffin has McCringe pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Griffin pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McCringe tumbling to the mat - Griffin dives into McCringe's guard.

Chris Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Chris Griffin.
